Adam Silver has not released any update on the NBA’s investigation into the alleged salary cap circumventions by the LA Clippers. Pablo Torre dropped another bombshell about the issue while also trolling the league commissioner. Torre’s recent stunt received a lot of reactions on social media.
At the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, Torre shared more information about what allegedly happened between the Clippers and Aspiration. There was an SEC whistleblower complaint in 2023 accusing Aspiration of helping Steve Ballmer’s franchise to circumvent the salary cap by helping Kawhi Leonard land bonuses.
Thanks for the submission!
But to add a little bit of entertainment, Torre took it on another level by revealing that he taped the envelope containing the information under the chair that Silver sat on earlier in the day.

“Adam Silver, all the evidence you need for the Kawhi Ballmer case was just a biiiiiiiit closer than you realized this morning,” Torre tweeted.
NBA fans quickly reacted to Pablo Torre playing mind games with Adam Silver, with some comparing him to the classic Batman villain, The Riddler. Silver has been criticized for the slow progress of the league’s investigation into the matter, especially after hiring the Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz law firm in September.
Here are some of the comments on X, formerly known as Twitter.
It will be interesting to see if there is going to be an update about the investigation after Pablo Torre’s latest revelation. Adam Silver and the league office have been mum about the matter, though the commissioner was asked about it at All-Star Weekend.
Adam Silver described Aspiration investigation as complex
Speaking to the media at the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend, Adam Silver was asked about an update on the investigation into the LA Clippers’ alleged circumvention of the salary cap. It was an appropriate question since the event was held at the Clippers’ home arena, the Intuit Dome.
“I haven’t come to any decisions whatsoever yet on the Clippers matter,” Silver said, according to Fox 11 LA. “As you know, the league office is not directly running the investigation. It’s being overseen by a law firm, Wachtel, in New York. … From everything I’ve been told, the Clippers have been fully cooperative. But as I said, I’m not involved day-to-day in the investigation.”
Silver added that the complexity of the case came from the bankruptcy of Aspiration to thousands of documents and several witnesses who needed to be interviewed. He was also adamant that the delay was not because of the Clippers hosting the All-Star Weekend.
