Welcome to another edition of the WWE News Roundup, where we bring you the hottest stories from the world of the sports entertainment juggernaut.
The latest Saturday Night’s Main Event is now in the history books, and it was a show full of surprises. CM Punk and another major star have started their reigns as top champions in the company. A veteran has once again confirmed he is done with wrestling.
We also have WWE legend John Cena dropping a bombshell about his retirement match in the sports entertainment juggernaut. So, without further ado, let’s begin:
#3. CM Punk and ex-AEW star win titles at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
CM Punk has had an eventful run in WWE following his shocking return in 2023. He has been a part of some top storylines, but his failure to have a sustained reign as a champion has been a topic of discussion among fans.
The November 1, 2025, edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event may have kick-started a new journey for Punk as he won the vacant World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Jey Uso. For those unaware, The Second City Saint had previously captured the same title by defeating Gunther at SummerSlam earlier this year, but Seth Rollins immediately dethroned him after cashing in his MITB contract.
Another title changed hands at Saturday Night’s Main Event as Jade Cargill defeated Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship. It remains to be seen how the landscape of the Stamford-based promotion will change in the coming weeks.
#2. Former WWE champion is done with wrestling
Injuries are an inevitable part of the pro wrestling business. Many careers have ended over the years due to a serious injury.
Former Intercontinental Champion Ryback recently shared a post on his Instagram handle, where he talked about his career-ending injuries and the recovery process he’s gone through, among other things.
“Just a reminder as well, I had two career-ending injuries with my back and my right shoulder. I have been beyond blessed to have recovered my back with over 20 stem cell procedures in my back and shoulder, getting my back to 100%, and I continue to work vigorously on my right shoulder week in and week out.”
Ryback further added that he is trying to get better, not to make a return to wrestling, but to live a healthy life.
“I’m the best I have been in a very long time. I do it for me and for my life. I don’t do it to go back to wrestling. I do it to live healthy and to live to the best of my ability. That has been the truth from the very beginning, but that part was never covered. That’s why to this day, thousands of times a day, people ask me when I’m coming back. I’ve continued to tell the truth, but many just don’t know it because the truth wasn’t being shared.”
Could The Big Guy show up in WWE (or AEW) in a non-wrestling capacity someday? Only time will tell.
#1. Huge announcement on John Cena’s last match
John Cena’s retirement is just days away now, and The Cenation Leader has dropped a big bombshell on who could face him on December 13.
A Cena vignette aired on the latest edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, during which the legendary star revealed that a 16-man tournament will take place in WWE to determine his final opponent.
It will feature talent from RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and maybe even from outside the sports entertainment juggernaut, and will kick off on the November 10 episode of Monday Night RAW in Boston, John Cena’s hometown.
The whole extravaganza has been aptly named “The Last Time is Now Tournament.” It will be interesting to see which star manages to grab the opportunity and retire The Cenation Leader.
