Caleb Williams led the Chicago Bears to a 47-42 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday. Williams went 20 of 34 for 280 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 53 yards on five carries, to guide Chicago to its fifth win of the season.
After Chicago’s win over Cincinnati, NFL analyst Colin Cowherd heaped praise on Williams, only a week after grilling the Bears QB for being inconsistent.
“With Caleb Williams, it’s official, I can see growth,” Cowherd said on “The Volume” podcast. “There’s no question. He is a better football player this year than last.”

When the Bears lost to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8, Cowherd had some harsh words for Williams.
“Caleb, in my opinion, is never going to be an accurate, consistently accurate thrower of the football in this league, am I too harsh?” Cowherd said on “The Volume” podcast.
Cowherd appears to have changed his opinion on Williams after one week.
The Bears took Williams with the top pick in the 2024 draft. Chicago finished with a 5-12 record last season, and Williams was the most sacked QB in the league.
However, after bringing in reinforcements in the offseason and strengthening their offensive line, the Bears control their own destiny to make the playoffs this season.
Caleb Williams and the Bears will face the New York Giants in Weke 10 of the 2025 NFL season
The Bears (5-3) will face the New York Giants (2-7) in Week 10 of the season on Sunday. The game will kick off at 1 p.m. ET from Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
The Giants are on a three-game losing streak. They suffered a 34-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9 on Sunday.
Williams is expected to play an important role against the Giants. The Bears QB has recorded 1,916 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, four interceptions and two rushing TDs this season.
