A Sssserpientes Ssssequel dropped in the desert this morning.
The Arizona Diamondbacks released their second Nike MLB City Connect uniform today, a continuation of the “Serpientes” theme from 2021-24 recoloured in the D-backs’ classic purple and teal.
We’re getting a solid purple jersey with darker purple sleeves, referencing the purple vest look worn by the Diamondbacks during the 2001 World Series championship season. Across the chest is the return of the “Serpientes” script, now in teal. As before, the “S” in “Serpientes” has been stylized into a snake, complete with a head at the beginning and a rattle at the end.

A series of tonal, diamond-shaped pinstripes are embedded throughout the purple jersey base, echoing the vertical pinstripes worn by the club from their 1998 expansion season through to 2006. Each dark purple sleeve features a single teal stripe at the cuff with a subtle diamond pattern, a detail repeated down the sides of the white (yes, white) pants.

On one sleeve is a reworked Arizona state flag patch, coloured in purple and teal to match the rest of the uniform. In place of the usual copper star, the Diamondbacks’ “A” logo has been inserted. The opposite sleeve includes the team’s usual Avnet sponsor patch.

On the cap, we see a purple crown with a teal visor and the S-snake logo from the jersey script on the front. The previous City Connect set did not use the “S” logo on the cap, instead opting for an all-black version of their usual “A” logo.
The inside back collar of the jersey includes the words “Arizona Born,” which the team says is a nod to the Diamondbacks’ status as the only major professional team that debuted with “Arizona” in its name right from day one (both the NFL’s Cardinals and NHL’s Coyotes started their time in Arizona using “Phoenix” as their geographic identifier). The jersey also includes a jock tag with “Established 1998” alongside a subtle reference to Arizona being the 48th state to join the United States.

According to the team, the design “represents the iconic Diamondbacks jerseys over the years,” blending colours and patterns from the original look with the original City Connect set to give us an updated interpretation of the club’s look.
The Diamondbacks will debut their new purple and teal “Serpientes” uniform on Friday, May 9, when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chase Field, the opening night of the club’s Mexican Heritage Weekend. They’ll wear the design again on Saturday and continue to wear it for all Friday home games through the remainder of the 2025 season.
