Lamar Jackson was in the building for the beginning of the Baltimore Ravens’ voluntary offseason workouts on Monday. However, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky made headlines after he went scorched earth on the quarterback for missing out on Day 1 of the OTAs.
ESPN later deleted the clip after Jackson’s appearance at the OTAs. Later, on the “NFL on ESPN” show, Orlovsky shared his thoughts on the two-time NFL MVP beginning voluntary offseason workouts under a new regime.
Thanks for the submission!
“It’s a big deal,” Orlovsky said. “it’s the second iteration of his career because of the newness you’re talking about. The first part of his career has been sensational. Multiple MVPs, he’s had a ton of success. He’s been one of the, if not the best players in football for mutiple years. He hasn’t partaken all the offseason activites in the past. So there was a little big of a question, ‘Is he gonna come?’

“Love the fact that he’s there with Declan Doyle and Jesse Minter. The thing that would be interesting is how quickly Lamar learns the offense. … The language, the execution, it’s going to be different than what Lamar’s been, at least from a consistency standpoint. I love the fact is there. I also love the fact that all of it’s new, the face of their franchise is there. I think it matters.”

Lamar Jackson had a rough year last season. He suffered multiple injuries, limiting his time on the playing field. The quarterback played in 13 games and recorded 2,549 yards and 21 TDs passing, while the Ravens failed to make the playoffs with an 8-9 record.
In January, the team decided to fire John Harbaugh after 18 seasons. A few days later, the Giants hired him as their new coach.
On the other hand, the Ravens signed Jesse Minter as his replacement and also brought in Declan Doyle as the offensive coordinator in place of Todd Monken, who departed to take over as the coach of the Cleveland Browns.

Mike Florio shares his thoughts on Lamar Jackson participating in the OTAs to mark the beginning of the Jesse Minter era
On Monday, PFT’s Mike Florio discussed how Lamar Jackson’s presence on Day 1 of the OTAs was significant to the start of the team’s Jesse Minter era.
“Why is that a big deal? Well, Lamar Jackson has a habit of not showing up for the voluntary program to the point where he sacrificed $750,000 in workout bonuses both in 2024 and 2025,” Florio said.
“Also, Minter told us at the scouting combine, ‘it’s on the coaching staff to create an offseason experience that makes the players believe they will be missing out on something if they’re not there.’ Either way, Lamar is there. We’ll see how long he stays, but at least for day one, he is present.”
In eight seasons, Jackson has recorded 22,608 yards and 187 TDs passing. Can he lead the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2026?
