The Denver Broncos will wear their “Orange Crush” throwback uniforms for the first time this season when they host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon (4:25 p.m. ET on CBS), which will closely resemble their matchup in Super Bowl XII.
The Broncos reintroduced their 1977-inspired throwback uniforms in 2024 alongside a full redesign of their home orange, white road and navy blue alternate jerseys and pants, as well as their standard navy blue and white alternate helmets.
They feature royal blue helmets with Denver’s iconic “D” logo in its original colors, orange jerseys with a traditional striping pattern on the sleeves, white pants with orange and blue stripes down the sides and matching socks.
The Broncos went 2-0 in throwback uniforms last season, including wins over the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. Prior to that, the last time they were worn was a win over the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day in 2001.
As mentioned, Sunday’s matchup will be visually similar to Dallas’ 27-10 win over Denver in Super Bowl XII, though the Cowboys had a more consistent shade of silver and striped socks that season whereas their current look includes blueish-gray pants and royal blue socks.
The Broncos will also paint a throwback-inspired design on the grass at Empower Field at Mile High for Sunday’s game, including the “D” logo at midfield and in the orange end zones alongside a vintage “Broncos” wordmark.
It’s nearly identical to the design that was used in the victory over the Chiefs, though the end zone wordmark was white that afternoon. Denver went without a midfield logo and painted the end zones blue with a basic “Broncos” wordmark for the win over the Raiders, meanwhile.
This marks the first of three appearances for the throwback uniforms this season, as they’ll also be worn on Thursday, Nov. 6, against Las Vegas, as well as the regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers on Jan. 4.
