Disgaea Mayhem is not a lengthy game, so you could reach the ending in a couple of gameplay sessions, depending on what kind of grinding you do. If you’re like me, even if you make your way into the Item World repeatedly, you could beat the game in under 10 hours, without too much stress. That said, there is still a fun, charming story here, and if you want to know what goes down after the final boss, we’re here to help.
The whole Disgaea Mayhem story revolves around Flan. Specifically, the Pristine Gleam Flan, a dish made famous by Overlord Tichelle’s father, the previous Overlord. However, thanks to a timely betrayal, a former vassal has made off with it. So what takes place after that final battle?
Note: This article contains spoilers and video footage from the Final Episode of Disgaea Mayhem.
What takes place in the Disgaea Mayhem ending?
At the end of Disgaea Mayhem, players head to the Final Episode: Pristine Gleam Battlefield, where the treacherous Wurst awaits. Right as we reclaimed the Flan, it was stolen by Wurst, who wanted nothing more than to return the Super Duper Netherworld back to what it was before Tichelle’s father, where the strong prey on the weak. He’s grown weary of all the happiness in Super Duper.
Grand Minister Wurst isn’t really that powerful, though as far as Disgaea Mayhems’s bosses go. He’s large, and melee focused, but that’s about it. When you defeat him, you reclaim the Pristine Gleam Flan from him, the same way you retrieved previous Flan meals: punching Wurst in the belly. He’s frustrated that it wasn’t enough to defeat N.A..
Overlord Tichelle would be summoned, and she could explain it to Wurst: The Pristine Gleam Flan that he ate wasn’t complete. Wurst would admit that the Flan seemed off. It didn’t taste the same, and there weren’t as many pieces as with the previous administration.
N.A. mocked Grand Minister Wurst, pointing out that though he changed on the outside, he hasn’t changed on the inside. In his haste, he ate the Flan without it being complete, and would lament that without Overlord Margruf around, he would never truly be able to eat Pristine Gleam Flan.
That’s really why he wanted to destroy Super Duper, and ruin everyone’s fun: A lack of the perfect Flan. What a Disgaea reason for doing something! This means Wurst, according to N.A., is just as much of a weirdo everyone else in Super Duper:
“Hmph…In the end, you’re just as much of a flan fanatic as everyone else…”

It wasn’t really about reclaiming old power, or destruction. Grand Minister Wurst knew that he’d never taste Pristine Gleam Flan again, so he wanted to eat it, instead of the rebelling advisors, the Six Psyclamates.
Overlord Tichelle would then allow Grand Minister Wurst to eat the Pristine Gleam Flan, though N.A. strongly objected. She would feed it to Wurst, who was overcome with joy by the pure flavor of the previous Overlord’s Flan recipe. N.A. was worried Wurst would freak out this time, but Tichelle stated it wouldn’t happen.
His mental state was a large part of why he went so berserk after eating the Flan in Disgaea Mayhem, but that’s not going to be the case this time. He will furthermore be able to control himself. But then a twist would occur! Wurst still planned on killing everyone, because he could no longer eat Overlord Wargruf’s Flan, but Tichelle would state she’ll surpass that legacy, and make something even better.

She planned on doing exactly what her father did, starting at nothing, and working until she made a Flan that outshined the Pristine Gleam Flan, in Disgaea Mayhem’s ending. She’d then call Wurst’s bluff, saying that if he really wanted to kill her, then he should go ahead and do it. Ultimately, Wurst would settle and let Tichelle take her time, but if the Flan she creates isn’t good enough, he’ll “tear open her windpipe”.
When N.A. asked Tichelle if it was okay to give Wurst the Flan, she’d reply that she can always make more, and that serving was her only shot at converting him from being a monstrous murder beast. And now, she’s got a fun new objective to work towards.

Meanwhile, back in the Overlord’s Castle, N.A. confirmed that this mission was done. Even though Tichelle no longer had the Pristine Gleam Flan N.A. retrieved for her, the mission had been completed. Now Tichelle had a new goal, to become a stronger Overlord (and to make the perfect Flan).
N.A., who, before this battle promised he wouldn’t leave Tichelle behind, said he “knew a mercenary” who would be interested in taking on that mission. With that, N.A. stuck around the Netherrealm named Super Duper, to help Overlord Tichelle grow. It’s a pretty sappy, but satisfying ending to this story.
Disgaea Mayhem releases on July 23, 2026, and brings with it something new and fresh to the classic Nippon Ichi Software series. Instead of a deep, turn-based strategy game, it’s a hack-and-slash adventure. You can learn more about it in our in-depth review.
