Chelsea fans on social media have ripped into Pedro Neto after they suffered a 3-0 loss to Brentford in the Premier League on Friday, September 18. This follows the winger’s poor attacking outing and wastefulness against the Bees.
Neto started at right wing-back but delivered what could be termed his poorest display of the season. The forward also failed to make runs in attack and switched off on numerous occasions.

After a goalless first half, Jaidon Anthony headed home from close range to give Brentford the lead in the 61st minute. Igor Thiago added to the hosts’ lead after rifling a rebound from a brilliant save by Emiliano Martinez.
Kevin Schade released a pass to Fabio Carvalho, who placed the ball in the back of the net to extend the Bees’ lead in added time (90+4’). Thus, Brentford secured their first home win over Chelsea since October 1938.
Meanwhile, Neto failed to deliver a key pass, lost the ball 14 times, and completed one out of five attempted dribbles (via Sofascore). After the game, fans took to X to slam the winger for his unconvincing display, with one tweeting:

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has revealed that losing their shape against Brentford contributed to their defeat. He added that it will be a gradual process for the Blues to learn what it takes to win games.
Alonso said that every game in the Premier League is difficult in an interview after their 3-0 loss to Brentford. He said (via Pys on X):
“We knew it was a process. It’s five games. Every game is hard. Not just set-pieces, in defensive duels, in the build-up. We conceded the first goal, and then we lost shape and conceded on a transition. To be able to understand the game and know what it takes to compete until the end. It’s a process.”
Chelsea have won two, drawn one and lost two out of the five league games they’ve played this season. They are likewise ranked seventh in the standings and will take on Bournemouth in their next Premier League game.
