Dodgers vs. Yankees World Series tickets are already the second costliest of all time—and will go even greater

Want to see the matchup of Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge in person? Be ready to pay a lot for a seat.

The 2024 World Series is the stuff of dreams for a network president, as the two largest cities in the U.S. prepare to face off. But that’s driving ticket prices for the Los Angeles Dodgers vs the New York Yankees to near-record and possibly record highs.

TicketIQ reports the 2024 series is currently the second most expensive since it began tracking secondary market ticket prices in 2010. StubHub, meanwhile, says the bi-coastal series is on track to become its best-selling in history, with the games already outpacing 2022’s World Series by over 400% and beating the final sales of last year’s Rangers-Diamondbacks series.

Game three, the first World Series game to be held in New York since 2009, is the hot ticket right now, with an average price of $5,318. Games four and five at Yankee Stadium will cost you $4,621 and $4,687 at the moment, though those are likely to increase depending on how the Series plays out and as the games draw near.

A ticket to the Opening Night game in Los Angeles is averaging $2,874, says TicketIQ.

Paying more than $5,000 for a ticket might seem an absurdly high price, even for a superfan, but it’s nothing compared to what fans in Chicago were willing to pay in 2016 when the Cubs broke their long, long dry streak and made it to the World Series. Tickets at their peak then went for $6,641 each.

That remains the high point for prices, but two of this year’s games are already occupying the second and third slots. The highest ticket price for last year’s World Series was $1,946, which ranks 10th on the all-time price list.
