Duet Night Abyss uses an interesting dialogue stats system, which are governed by Dicerolls. Players can farm d10s (ten-sided dice) throughout the game, or create them in the Forge system. They can then be used in a variety of conversations, particularly in Side Quests, to unlock rewards, or even to kick off quests in the first place. These dialogue stats are called Impressions, and each one is based on a different personality trait.
While these don’t have any actual impact on your character’s power, having access to good dialogue stats and plenty of D10s for dicerolls can affect non-combat moments in Duet Night Abyss. Here’s what you need to know about this very interesting Impressions system.
What are Dicerolls in Duet Night Abyss?
Dicerolls take place in Duet Night Abyss, when you’re trying to make an Impressions Check. For the most part, these Impressions Checks take place in side quests, to either begin a quest, or to make progress. They are also used to get bonus rewards, like Secret Letter Clues and Coins. Certain shops are also going to require Dicerolls in order to buy items, such as Lunoeggy’s Shop.

For example, the side quest Greed Beneath the Sand has a required Impressions Check you need to meet before you can go forward with it. It’s a Morality check, which is one of the in-game dialogue stats for Duet Night Abyss. Each character also has a dialogue stat connected to them, which are called Impressions. Again, this doesn’t affect their character’s power, it only tells you what kind of character they are.
Anytime you have to make a diceroll in Duet Night Abyss, you use one of the D10s you have in your inventory, to make a diceroll. You will roll two D10s, and add whatever you get to the dialogue stat the roll is connected with.
In the example above, I rolled a 43, with a 28 Wisdom stat, giving a total of 71. That beats the required 60 I needed to get past a dialogue check in a conversation with one of the town guards. It’s important to note that if you fail a required impressions check that you can come back and do it again later. It doesn’t mean you fail the quest forever.

While the majority of dicerolls are in conversation, that’s not the only time you’ll see them in Duet Night Abyss. You’ll also see this option in certain shops, like Lunoeggy’s Shop (Shop Tab, Bustling Marketplace).
All items in Lunoeggy’s require you to beat specific dialogue stat checks, and many of the items also have specific dialogue stat levels you need to have before even buying them. An example is Secret Letter Clue x2 under the Chaos Stat.
You can’t even buy that until you have a Chaos Stat of 30, and then you can roll a dicecheck for it. These items don’t cost any currency, but they do cost dicerolls, so you have to carefully consider how many D10s you have, and if it’s worth it to burn one (or more) on dicerolls.
What are dialogue stats in Duet Night Abyss, and what are they used for?
One of the most frustrating things about Duet Night Abyss has to be that there isn’t a clearcut way to see your dialogue stats, unless you’re in a conversation and have to make a dialogue choice. When given a dialogue choice in Duet Night Abyss, more often than not, your answer will give you 3 points in one of the following stats:

- Benefit: Benefit answers will give you some kind of advance in the current situation/conversation.
- Chaos: As their name implies, very chaotic answers. They can often be brash, rude, or even silly.
- Morality: Morality answers tend to revolve around doing the “right thing” in any given situation.
- Empathy: Self-explanatory, answers that lean towards supporting/empathizing with a character will likely be Empathy stats.
- Wisdom: Showing off what you know about the world, or about this situation tend to be Wisdom checks.
Another example is the side quest The Gone Girl, which has several dialogue options that reward you with more dialogue stats. For example, when the quest begins, you have three options that reward you with specific stats:
- Umm…I’m not your daughter (+3 Benefit)
- Please calm down. Are you looking for someone? I’ll keep an eye out for you. (+3 Empathy)
- Mum! (+3 Chaos)
There’s no real wrong way to answer questions, though. The only real downside is that depending on how you answer, other dicerolls may wind up harder. If you focus on Empathy and Wisdom, required Chaos rolls might wind up being harder, but that’s the only real threat. Of course this is just my personal opinion, and what you want in game may certainly vary. If you want to balance your dialogue stats, that’s also fine.
This is a system in Duet Night Abyss that incentivizes you to do more side quests. By completing side quests, you can increase your dialogue stats, which unlocks more items to purchase at specific vendors. But to do that, you need more D10s!
How to get more Dicerolls in Duet Night Abyss

It’s not too hard to get more Dicerolls in Duet Night Abyss. Most of the side quests reward a few of them for you simply for completing them, feeding into the system of doing more dialogue choices.
Conversely, you can also craft them in the Forge system. In addition to forging weapons, you can also make other useful items like D10s. They require 1x Repulsive Crystal and 1x Gold Sand. These have to be forged also, and you can find the materials below:
- Repulsive Crystal: 5x Snowswift Tail Feather, 5x Fuel Reagent, x2 Statue Debris, 15x Luno Memento
- Gold Sand: 5x Vehicle Armor, 5x Insulation Coating, 2x Statue Debris, 15x Luno Memento
These are the two primary ways to get d10s, though they could show up in other places, such as achievement rewards or from various treasure chests.
