Former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy provided an update on the future of Lane Johnson on Saturday. There were a lot of questions around the future of the offensive lineman as the Eagles entered the offseason with retirement rumors flying around the air.
However, McCoy outrightly ruled that out on Monday on the “Speakeasy” podcast. He confirmed that the All-Pro right tackle will be returning for his 14th season in the NFL.
Thanks for the submission!
“I think this year will be a good year for us. Lane Johnson ain’t going nowhere. I’m talking Lane, he ain’t going nowhere. He ain’t going nowhere. … No, he ain’t going nowhere.”

Adam Schefter gave a similar update to that of LeSean McCoy on Lane Johnson’s future with the Eagles. The ESPN insider noted on “97.5 The Fanatic’s Kincade and Salciunas Show” that the offensive lineman will be active for at least one more season.
“I do expect that Lane Johnson will be back. I have heard the Landon Dickerson conversation [on potential retirement], I don’t know how real it is or isn’t; but I’d be surprised if Lane Johnson isn’t back, I don‘t know as much about Landon Dickerson.”
LeSean McCoy anticipates a great year for the Eagles in 2026
After failing to retain the Super Bowl, LeSean McCoy believes the Eagles will return as a better team in 2026. The former NFL running back discussed the factors that are bound to elevate the team next season, after ending the 2025 season in the Wild Card round.
“We got a lot of stuff to prove, and another thing is our new coordinator,” McCoy said. “It’s gonna be a lot on his shoulders. … This year is a big year for us, and listening to all the interviews, the guys talking, talking to some of the players on a one-on-one basis.
“I think we’ll be ready. I think a guy like A.J. Brown will come into the season with an attitude like, ‘Yo, I’m gonna show y’all why I’m still that guy.’ I think a guy like Jalen Hurts, having an up and down year, I think he comes back and he shows why he was a Super Bowl MVP.”
LeSean McCoy’s words also gave a hint at the future of A.J. Brown amid trade rumors around him. The wide receiver was a subject of controversy on the team throughout the 2025 season, and many don’t expect him to return. However, the Eagles front office isn’t open to letting him leave.
