ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers Standardize Uniforms, Add Alternate Jersey to Rotation – SportsLogos.Net News

The ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers have nailed down their uniform lineup for 2024-25, bringing their primary jerseys in line with each other while introducing a new alternate jersey.

The West Virginia-based team unveiled the jerseys on their website and social media channels on Tuesday, September 17.

The Nailers’ dark jersey remains relatively unchanged from what they wore in 2023-24. The black base has “sunflower yellow” and white outlines around the shoulders; the logo of their AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins sits on the right shoulder while the logo of their NHL parent club, the Pittsburgh Penguins, appears on the left shoulder.

The Nailers’ secondary logo of a half-yellow, half-black hexagonal goalie mask with large nails crossed behind it sits on the front of the jersey. White and yellow stripes run around the waist and the sleeves. The collar is black with yellow trim and a yellow insert at the front. Numbers on the back and sleeves are yellow with white outlines, and names on the back are one-color yellow.

The white jerseys, meanwhile, ditch the Vegas gold the Nailers had previously used in favor of sunflower yellow. They follow the same striping pattern as the dark jerseys, though the collar remains black with yellow trim. The front of the jersey features the Nailers’ primary logo, which depicts the mask and nails in front of a black roundel that reads “WHEELING NAILERS”. Numbers on the back and sleeves are black with yellow outlines, and names on the back are one-color black.

While Vegas gold has been removed from the white jerseys, it lives on in the Nailers’ wardrobe through their new alternate jersey. The base of the jersey is gold, with “NAILERS” written out diagonally across the front in black. The shoulders are black, and a broad black stripe flanked by two narrower black stripes runs around the waist and each sleeve. Names and numbers on the back and sleeves are one-color black. The collar is Vegas gold with black trim and black laces.

The photos and videos didn’t much of the other equipment that would be worn with each jersey, nor did they show the socks that would be paired with each. But a photo on team website showed a yellow helmet in the same locker stall as the white jersey, and black helmets in the stalls with the dark and alternate jerseys.

ECHL teams wear white jerseys at home and dark jerseys on the road until the All-Star Game break in January, at which point they switch to dark at home at white on the road. During the playoffs, they switch back to white at home and dark on the road.

The Nailers open their 2024-25 ECHL regular season on the road against the Maine Mariners on Friday, October 18. Their home opener will take place on Saturday, November 2, when they host the expansion Bloomington Bison at the Wesbanco Arena.
