EU says nonetheless prioritising a negotiated resolution with the US over tariffs

But at the same time, the EU is maintaining that it is exploring a wider set of possible countermeasures against US tariffs. As things stand, their latest proposed retaliation will cover approximately €72 billion in US goods. It’s still just all talk so far to start the new week. The clock continues to wind down in the meantime. 11 more days to go.

Later this week, German chancellor Merz and French president Macron will be meeting in Berlin to discuss more on tariffs again after having discussed that over the weekend as well.
