Former AEW star guarantees he’ll turn out to be World Champion in WWE

A former AEW star has promised that he will go on to become a world champion in WWE in a recent interview.

In January 2025, Penta made his debut in the Stamford-based promotion and is the current Intercontinental Champion in his first reign. He is among the most popular superstars in the roster, and recently had an interview with Denise Salcedo. He spoke about a variety of topics, including his upcoming title defense against Rey Mysterio, whom he considers his role model.

Penta also promised the fans that he would become a world champion in the company, after thanking them for their support over the past two decades.

“Penta is for the people. Penta is for the all fans who support me. So, now I have 20 years around this business. So, I’m very thankful for you guys. Thank you so much. I promise you one thing. I don’t know when. I don’t know how, but I promise Penta will become the champion from WWE, but not any champion. The world champion,” he said.

Penta’s brother reveals he misses teaming up with him following their WWE move

Shortly after Penta joined WWE, his brother, Rey Fenix, made the move to the Stamford-based promotion from AEW as well. However, they perform on RAW and SmackDown, respectively, and have not yet teamed up on screen. In a recent conversation with RRBG, Fenix acknowledged that he missed teaming up with his brother on television.

“Obviously, I miss wrestling with my brother. I miss fighting and working with him every day, whenever we’re working, but it’s a great opportunity we have to show who we are individually. I have worked with Je’Von Evans, I worked in his time with Andrade, I’m working now with Sami Zayn, and I also worked with Rey Mysterio at the most recent AAA events. I think it’s a good opportunity both for us as wrestlers and for the audience to see something different,” Rey Fenix said.

While Penta is the reigning Intercontinental Champion, Fenix has barely had a singles rivalry since joining the company. It now remains to be seen whether the duo will reunite in the coming months, or if fans will have to wait longer to see them together.
