Injuries have taken the careers of many wrestlers. A former WWE Intercontinental Champion appears to be done with wrestling after suffering two career-ending injuries.
Ryback’s in-ring career took a big hit several years ago, forcing him to take a break from wrestling. The Big Guy last wrestled against indie wrestler Dylan Bostic at the Northeast Wrestling Event in 2018.
His prolonged legal battle with WWE over his name has seemingly burned the bridge.
A few days ago, Ryback took to his Instagram handle to share a throwback video, ranking his top five Shell Shocks. In the caption, he reflected on his career and provided an update on his recovery from two career-ending injuries.
“Just a reminder as well, I had two career-ending injuries with my back and my right shoulder. I have been beyond blessed to have recovered my back with over 20 stem cell procedures in my back and shoulder, getting my back to 100%, and I continue to work vigorously on my right shoulder week in and week out.”
Ryback said he continues to work hard to be in the best shape possible, but has no plans to get back to wrestling.
“I’m the best I have been in a very long time. I do it for me and for my life. I don’t do it to go back to wrestling. I do it to live healthy and to live to the best of my ability. That has been the truth from the very beginning, but that part was never covered. That’s why to this day, thousands of times a day, people ask me when I’m coming back. I’ve continued to tell the truth, but many just don’t know it because the truth wasn’t being shared.”

Will Ryback return to WWE?
Earlier this year, Ryback addressed the possibility of coming back to WWE for one last run.
He said it would probably take The Rock’s involvement to make it happen.
“Now that Vince is gone, I am well, well moved on past the situation. I wish them all the best. I am doing great. I am at peace with everything on that, and I won what I needed to win. They’re doing good. I’m doing good, and life is good. I’ve got my health back. I’ve been blessed, very grateful for everything, for something like that to even remotely happen. Some serious wrongs need to be righted, and it would most, honestly probably take The Rock getting involved for something to get done,” he said.
Ryback’s last WWE match came against the then-United States Champion Kalisto during the Payback pre-show in 2016.
