Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) is not dealing with his looming unemployment well.

Johnson has slipped into a state that borders on delusion, and he recently claimed to Punchbowl News that he hasn’t thought about what he will do next if Republicans lose the House:
I don’t know what’s going to happen Nov. 4. … If I were a betting man, and I’m not, I would put all the chips on me being speaker of the House in a Republican majority. I don’t think it’s going to be a red wave election. I don’t think we’re going to have a 20-seat majority, but I believe it’s going to be the majority. … I think they would expect me to continue to keep this thing going.
Johnson doesn’t acknowledge that his future depends on how much Republicans lose. If House Republicans get blown out, and Democrats win a 20-30 seat majority, there will be calls within the House Republican caucus for Johnson to go.
If Republicans keep it close, Johnson could run for House Minority and likely win, but either way, Mike Johnson is about to be out of a job.
Shannon Bream on Fox News Sunday showed Johnson the network’s modeling that reveals that even in the best scenario, the Speaker ends up unemployed.
Johnson did not take this well.
