Young Muay Thai stars Freddie Haggerty and Jordan Estupinan met in January last year in a showdown that turned out to be a total banger.
The event was ONE 170 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. British fighter Haggerty, traditionally a strawweight, moved up to flyweight to battle then-ONE Championship debuting Estupinan. It went the distance of three rounds with the Colombian winning by unanimous decision.
Both fighters got it going right at the onset, throwing each other kicks before Haggerty inflicted some telling blows with his punching combination.
The intense action continued in the second round, where the two tried to swing the tide in their favor. An inadvertent low blow by Haggerty temporarily halted the proceedings but when things resumed, Estupinan surprised his opponent by scoring two knockdowns, with the first coming by way of a powerful overhand right and the second moments later with a counter right.

In the third round, Freddie Haggerty tried to make up for the two knockdowns he absorbed by coming out aggressive and engaging. But Estupinan was ready for it, taking on everything Haggerty threw at him head-on with much success as he held on tough in the final stanza on his way to the decision victory.
ONE Championship recently relived the fiery showdown by Haggerty and Estupinan by uploading the full fight on its official YouTube channel for fans to enjoy as they await the brand-new season of the promotion.

Freddie Haggerty admits he was surprised by the size of Jordan Estupinan in their clash
While he is not using it as an excuse, Freddie Haggerty said he was surprised by the size of Jordan Estupinan at ONE 170. It was something he did not anticipate and had a tough time dealing with on fight night.
The younger brother of ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion Jonathan Haggerty shared this in an interview with the South China Morning Post back in May, where he touched on his experience of competing at flyweight for the first time.
Freddie Haggerty said:
“I didn’t feel like I was out of place, but I do remember saying, like, at the weigh-ins, I felt we were similar size, and then we got in the cage, and he looked a lot bigger than what he was at the weigh-ins. So maybe that was a factor. Maybe I was a little bit more wary because I didn’t know anything of him, but I felt comfortable with flyweight. I reckon eventually I will grow into it.”
The loss to Estupinan was the first for Haggerty in four matches so far in ONE Championship.
