Jared Verse was poised for another Super Bowl chance with the Los Angeles Rams and seemingly on deck to build his case for a second contract. Before that dance could begin, however, the Rams moved on. Verse was less than thrilled about how he was sent away, according to a recent statement.
In a video clip of the pass rusher posted on X via Mary Kay Cabot, Verse was blunt about not wanting to move to Cleveland after starting his career in Los Angeles. However, his emotions have changed.
Thanks for the submission!

“It was upsetting,” he said. “I was upset for a good little bit of time, but when you’re an athlete, you understand the nature of business. Everyone does what they think is best for their business and that’s the situation that I’m in. I’m happy to be a part of the Browns.”

Many fans empathized with Verse and saw his side of things.
“I can imagine he was upset he left a Super Bowl caliber team and went to the Browns graveyard,” one posted.
“I would be salty too 😂 From Super Bowl contention to bottom of the totem pole,” another replied.
“As anyone would be going from LA to Cleveland 😂,” one responded.
While some fans saw the negative, others cheered on or braced for the Rams to lose the trade in the long run.
“This one just feels like it will be regretted by the Rams,” one posted.
“You’ll be warmly welcomed in Cleveland. Show them all what the Rams gave up !” another added.
“Guy is just getting started. He’s going to be a menace in Cleveland. This isn’t a big of loss as people make it seem,” one argued.
Verse now will be forced to step into Myles Garrett’s shoes and live up to the pass rusher’s example after Garrett’s 23-sack season.
Jared Verse faces significantly different situation in second half of rookie contract

Jared Verse had been preparing to convince Les Snead, but now he will need to convince Andrew Berry, who had watched Myles Garrett work. As such, after sending Garrett’s expensive salary away (as seems to be case, although a future report could indicate otherwise) he could soon be asked to rationalize giving up another large salary to Verse shortly after getting adjusted to the added cap space.
Verse is heading into the third year of a four-year deal with a fifth-year option. If the Browns wish to play hardball, the team could take things through the 2028 season under the current deal. Verse could potentially claw his way out as soon as after the 2027 season if he can convince the Browns to let him walk.
Of course, the most reliable way to separate from a team would be to damage one’s reputation with the Cleveland Browns, but that would then harm his chances in free agency. He could ask for another trade, but being traded twice in a short period does its own damage.
Put simply, Jared Verse doesn’t have many risk-free options to get out, but he does have an opportunity to play for a franchise that has historically spent plenty of resources on defense. Will Verse stick with the Browns long-term?
