Point guard Jose Alvarado has joined the New Orleans Pelicans’ lengthy injury list with a left hamstring strain, the team announced Tuesday.

While the Pelicans said he’d be re-examined in approximately three weeks, ESPN reported that the injury would sideline him for six weeks.

Alvarado was injured Monday in New Orleans’ 107-105 setback to the Brooklyn Nets.

The Pelicans (3-8), who have lost five in a row and eight of their past nine games, already are missing Zion Wiliamson (hamstring), Dejounte Murray (hand), Jordan Hawkins (back), Herbert Jones (shoulder) and CJ McCollum (adductor).

Alvarado, 26, is averaging 10.7 points, 4.5 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 11 games (seven starts) in his fourth season with the Pelicans. He is shooting a career-best 40.0 percent from 3-point distance.

He has career averages of 7.7 points, 2.8 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 182 games (18 starts) since going undrafted in 2021 out of Georgia Tech.
