Gen.G outlast AG.AL, win grand remaining at Esports World Cup

Gen.G Esports overcame squandering a two-map lead to post a 3-2 victory over AG.AL International on Sunday in the grand final at the Esports World Cup League of Legends event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Gen.G raced out to an early advantage after recording a 30-minute win on blue and a 28-minute victory on red. AG.AL responded with a 30-minute win on blue and a 46-minute victory on red before Gen.G countered with a triumph in the decisive map.

South Korean Ki-in “Kiin” Kim was named the MVP of the tournament for Gen.G Esports, who took home $600,000 and 1,000 EWC club points.

Also on Sunday, T1 recorded a 2-0 sweep of G2 Esports in the third-place game. T1 secured a 27-minute win on blue and 28-minute victory on red to capture $230,000 and 500 points.

Twelve teams began the event, competing for a $2 million prize pool. The tournament is also part of the Club Championship that will award $7 million to the winning team at the end of the Cup.

4. $160,000, 300 points — G2 Esports

5-8. FlyQuest, Bilibili Gaming, Hanwha Life Sports, KOI — $110,000, 200 points

9-10. FURIA, CTBC Flying Oyster — $75,000, no points

11-12. Cloud9, GAM Esports — $50,000, no points
