One wrote, “And this is how you go broke before your 1st contract expires.”
Some fans weren’t as critical.
One said, “For the ones saying he wasting nfl money kids made over 2mil last year nil.”
Another wrote, “He appears to be a good dude from a good family. He’ll be a great Chief!”
One chipped in, saying, “Big heart folks protect it! Great dude man lot better person than Carter was Chiefs getting quality right here. This D line is going to cook. Omar Lott better get to work your great too. But you got a room full of dawgs now. Just WOW this D line is lit.”
Peter Woods spent his entire college football career with the Clemson Tigers. He featured in at least 11 games in all three seasons, earning First-team All-ACC honors in his final campaign.
According to On3 Sports, the 29th pick in the 2026 draft will sign a four-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $17.3 million. Two new cars for his favorite people won’t cause too much of a dent in the Clemson product’s bank account.
Kansas City Chiefs get a B+ grade for Peter Woods pick
Sports Illustrated analyzed the Chiefs’ selection of Peter Woods with the 29th pick of this year’s draft. The Chiefs were given a B+ grade for the super late first-round pick.
The site noted that Chiefs’ star defensive tackle Chris Jones turns 32 in July. Jones has considered retirement a couple of times, and it was paramount that the Chiefs get a replacement in this year’s draft. Woods is poised to be just that, and he’ll get the chance to learn from the future Hall of Famer.
Furthermore, Woods has a higher ceiling than offseason signing Khyiris Tonga and 2025 draftee Omarr Norman-Lott. Adding Woods gives the team some insurance if neither player thrives at Arrowhead Stadium.
Peter Woods has bucket loads of potential, as evidenced by his 30-tackle 2025 season with the Tigers. He could be Steve Spagnuolo’s next great defensive star while giving the Chiefs a potential All-Pro to build around for the next decade.
