Green Bay Packers Reveal Dates For White Alternate Helmets, 1923 Throwback Uniforms – SportsLogos.Net News

The Green Bay Packers recently announced their game themes for the upcoming season, which includes wearing their white alternate helmets against the Washington Commanders on Sept. 11 and the debut of their 1923 throwback uniforms against the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 2.

The Packers introduced their white alternate helmets ahead of last season, wearing them alongside their all-white Color Rush uniforms in a 24-22 home win over the Houston Texans in October and 30-13 road victory at the Seattle Seahawks in December.

The helmets include Green Bay’s primary logo on the sides and a green and white striping pattern down the center, mimicking the Packers’ standard gold helmets. They’re completely devoid of gold, though, which stands out against the stripes on their collar, sleeves and pants.

The 1923 throwback uniforms, meanwhile, were unveiled this summer and feature hand-painted “leather” helmets, navy blue jerseys with gold numbers and three thin stripes on the sleeves that mimic the pattern on their 1922-24 long sleeve sweaters, tan pants and navy blue socks.

It’s interesting that they’ll wear the throwback uniforms against a team that didn’t exist until 1995, especially since the Packers’ rivals, the Chicago Bears, are one of just two current NFL teams that existed in 1923 – the other being the Arizona Cardinals, who they also play this season.

That said, teams are now permitted to wear alternate and/or throwback uniforms as many as four times each season, and with two slots remaining, it’s possible Green Bay breaks out the white alternate helmets and 1923 throwback uniforms again later in the year.
