It’s been seven weeks since the Detroit Lions cut Terrion Arnold. The NFC North team parted ways with the cornerback after he was arrested on eight felony charges.
According to Pro Football Talk, the Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider and special-teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh spoke about Arnold at practice on a new episode of this season’s Hard Knocks. The duo struck up a conversation about the free agent the franchise plans to add to its roster.
Thanks for the submission!
“If you were (the Lions), why would you release him?” Harbaugh said to Schneider.

“Well, it was because it was very shocking,” Schneider replied.

“Like, if you read The Athletic article, it’s not good, you know?”
“And you would imagine if it was flipped, it’d probably be the same thing here?” said Harbaugh.
“I think we probably would have had to let him go,” added Schneider.
The report adds that the Seahawks spent much of the episode conducting due diligence on the former Lions ball hawk. Schneider added that he spoke with Nick Saban about Arnold. Saban coached him for three seasons at the University of Alabama.
Furthermore, there’s a scene where Schneider and Arnold’s agent, Nicole Lynn, seemingly agreed that Arnold will accept an offer from the Seahawks. If he does, then it’ll be his second team in the NFL.
Terrion Arnold had a mixed 2025 season
The Detroit Lions selected Terrion Arnold in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. He was the second cornerback selected in the draft after the Philadelphia Eagles selected Quinyon Mitchell at No. 22.
Arnold had a decent rookie season, amassing a stat line of 60 tackles, ten pass deflections and one fumble recovery in 16 games. He helped the Lions reach the playoffs before they were defeated by the Washington Commanders in the divisional round.
However, Arnold had a less-than-stellar 2025 season. The Alabama Crimson Tide product missed a large chunk of the campaign because of injuries. He was placed on the injured reserve at the start of December before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery.
Arnold posted a stat line of 31 tackles, one interception and eight pass deflections in eight games in the 2025 campaign. The Lions missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2022 campaign.
Terrion Arnold is now searching for a new landing spot after his June release by the Lions. It’s looking increasingly likely that he’ll sign a contract with the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2026 season.
