“He does accurately throw it to the defense”: NFL followers react to Kevin Stefanski praising Tua Tagovailoa’s passing expertise

On Wednesday, Atlanta Falcons coach Kevin Stefanski offered high praise for Tua Tagovailoa, highlighting the quarterback’s elite passing accuracy. The signal-caller was brought in on a one-year veteran-minimum contract to lead the offense in the new era under the coach.

In his media availability during Wednesday’s session of the team OTAs, Stefanski was questioned about one of the biggest strengths of Tagovailoa: his accuracy. The coach emphasized how crucial it is for a quarterback to be accurate before singling out the former Miami star.

“I think it’s the most important trait at the position as we’ve always talked about,” Stefanski said. Some guys get better at it with tweaks to how they throw the ball. … But there is an innate ability, and all of our guys have this, all of our quarterbacks have this, to be able to let the ball go and it’s going where you want it to go.

“Not to say that you’re not going to miss throws in this profession, you’re going to miss throws, but all of our guys possess that innate quality of letting it go and knowing where they want it to go. But yeah, I think Tua, just in his career, as you’ve seen, just has that innate God-given ability.”

Kevin Stefanski’s praise for Tua Tagovailoa has got a lot of NFL fans talking. The quarterback has been known for his accuracy right from his days at Alabama, and he’s maintained the reputation quite well in his professional career.

Here’s a look at some of the reactions online:

@MySportsUpdate He does accurately throw it to the defense to be fair

@MySportsUpdate Stefanski always with the bs!!! Does he not listen to what he says lol

@MySportsUpdate I’m so glad this mfer is off my Browns team. Thank fucking god. Stefanski is about to ruin the Falcons.

@MySportsUpdate Tua was high level and under Stefanski the QB guru he can return to that in ATL

@MySportsUpdate Stefanski is wrong. The most important trait of a QB is availability. If they are not on the field due to injury, they are worthless to the team. Unfortunately, that is Tua’s defining characteristic.

@MySportsUpdate That’s true he can throw the ball 5 to 10 yards really accurately on the first read

Kevin Stefanski offers an update on Michael Penix Jr.

With Tua Tagovailoa giving a good impression of himself at Atlanta, Michael Penix Jr. remains sidelined with an ACL injury he suffered last season. Kevin Stefanski offered an update on the rehab of the quarterback on Tuesday, noting that he’s already taking part in some activities.

“Mike is not cleared for team periods yet,” Stefanski said. “He’ll continue to do what he’s doing, which is individual drills and 7-on-7… The number one thing all along is to get healthy. So what Mike’s able to do right now, in terms of individual and the 7-on-7 is outstanding and just shows you how hard he’s working at it, but when appropriate, then we’ll move him to team drills.”

The absence of Michael Penix Jr. from the team’s offseason program continues to give Tua Tagovailoa the lead in the race for the starting role next season. Kevin Stefanski and the Falcons have maintained they’ve not given up on Penix despite bringing in a veteran player in the position.
