ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon of Thailand sees something great in his teammate, Johan Ghazali.
The Malaysian-American sensation has taken the home of martial arts by storm with his charisma, talent, and crushing knockout power.
But ‘Jojo’ endured a tough stretch in 2025 following successive decision losses to Johan Estupinan and Diego Paez.
The 19-year-old retooled and returned to form when he destroyed Zakaria El Jamari at ONE Fight Night 35 to get his redemption.

While consistency has been an issue with Ghazali, Superbon believes it’s simply growing pains for the teenage sensation.
As far as the 35-year-old megastar is concerned, Ghazali’s potential remains untapped, and he has the skills to become one of the greats in ‘The Art of Eight Limbs’.
Superbon shared in a ONE Championship interview:
“It’s purely a matter of experience. When you’re that young, you can get over-excited or lose your composure when the pressure hits or when things don’t go according to plan in the ring. But he’ll get better as he gains more experience.”
Meanwhile, Superbon will once again be in ‘Jojo’s’ corner when he dons the four-ounce gloves anew at ONE Friday Fights 141 on Feb. 6.
The Rentap Muaythai Gym and Superbon Training Camp affiliate will trade heavy leather with Myanmar’s Ye Yint Naung in a flyweight Muay Thai clash.
ONE Friday Fights 141 airs live in Asian Primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
Johan Ghazali reflects on his ups and downs in 2025
Johan Ghazali remains gracious each time he fights, regardless of the results.
Win or lose, the 19-year-old is happy to be able to share his talents with the world.
While chasing victories will always be his main goal, he understands that setbacks are also needed for him to grow.
“The year taught me a lot. Those defeats, in a way, were a chapter that I’m grateful for. Losses teach us to bounce back stronger, and, like I always say, pressure makes diamonds. So fans got to witness that when I got my knockout win. I silenced the critics and the doubters,” Ghazali said in a ONE Championship interview.
