How did TheBurntPeanut grow to be the most-watched VTuber?

TheBurntPeanut climbed up the Twitch streaming ranks in 2025 with his animated personality, sarcastic comments, and humorous gameplay. He broadcasts himself via a peanut avatar, which categorizes him under the VTuber community. This categorization has caused major controversy within the community, with some calling him out for not being a VTuber.

In the past, TheBurntPeanut has spoken about how he does not consider himself a VTuber in the traditional sense and that he falls under the category purely because of his digital avatar:

“Am I a peanut? Sure. I am a peanut. But do I have massive budonkers here, and I’m jiggling them around physics away? I mean, no. It’s a different ball game. Not saying one’s better than the other… but, I’m just saying it’s a different category. And so, whenever you group me in there… and they make jokes all the time.”

Now, in January 2026, the streamer has surpassed Ironmouse in terms of viewership, one of the most followed and most subscribed to English-speaking VTubers on Twitch. To put things into perspective, Ironmouse broke records in October 2024 after she surpassed Kai Cenat and became the most-subscribed Twitch streamer ever at the time, with over 307,000 subs.

While Cenat took his record back soon after, Ironmouse continues to remain at the top of the VTuber community, with over 2.4 million followers on Twitch. The Peanut, on the other hand, has about 1.6 million followers.

Followers aside, TheBurntPeanut seems to be dominating in terms of viewership. Recent reports indicate that the streamer is number one in the “Most Watched VTubers” category for 2025, measured by hours watched. Streams Charts shared placed The Peanut at 60.2 million hours watched. In second place came Japanese-speaking creator Miko Ch. with 49.3 million.

Ironmouse came in ninth, with 19 million watch hours. A clause to be added here is that these statistics feature combined hours watched across all platforms on which the VTuber is active. The Peanut multi-streams across Kick, Twitch, and YouTube. This method introduces him to wider audiences, thereby garnering more watch hours.

Multi-streaming became a more significant part of the streaming landscape in 2025, especially considering that Twitch started to allow most creators to stream on multiple platforms at once without exclusivity restrictions.
