How to craft and use

The Water Wheel in Rust is a brand-new deployable. It can be used to generate electricity, allowing players to charge up and power different electricals within their base. Other than solar panels and the windmill, we finally have a third way to generate power within Rust, and it’s going to be a massive help for players who like to base around rivers, oceans, and other water bodies.

In this article, we will provide you with a detailed guide on how you can craft the Water Wheel in Rust and use it for your benefit. Read below to know more.

How to craft the Water Wheel in Rust

The Water Wheel is a tier-1 level item in Rust. It has been introduced to the game with the debut of the Spring Clean update for the title. It requires players to first unlock the blueprint, which they can find as random loot from junk piles, low-tier crates, military crates, and even elite-grade crates in-game. Alternatively, they can tech-tree their way to this item by spending Scrap.

That said, once you have unlocked the blueprint for the item, you can craft it in the vicinity of a Workbench Level 1. Here’s what you will need to make it:

  • 500 Wood

  • 2 Gears
  • 1 Sheet Metal

How to use the Water Wheel in Rust

Now that you have unlocked and crafted a Water Wheel for yourself, let’s discuss how you can make use of it.

Placement

First and foremost, to get this item running, you need to first build a foundation under the water body you’re basing near. Place the deployable in a manner such that a segment of it is partially submerged underwater. If done successfully, the Water Wheel will start revolving, and you will then start generating power.

Use

Here’s how you can use the power you generate from the Water Wheel in Rust:

  • Now that your Water Wheel is functional, you need to get power running within your base. If you have multiple of them set up, first and foremost, use Root Combiners to stream the power you’ve generated into a single source.

  • Next up, place a large or medium battery, depending on your requirement, within your base. Proceed to connect the Root Combiner’s connection to the battery. Once done, the power generated by the deployables will be stored within the batteries you have installed. This ensures that electricity remains running even if these wheels get destroyed.
  • Lastly, proceed to install Splitters and Electrical Branches to distribute the power to the electricals in your base, such as Auto Turrets, Lights, Industrial system, and so on.
