Progressing through Mortal Shell 2 becomes easier once you know where and how to collect Gloom, the currency used to level up your character. As you progress in gameplay, challenges become more difficult, and enemies grow tougher, making levelling up an important part of the experience. To collect Gloom, you will need to use Beacons.
These resting areas are available from the start, but they do not allow you to level up until you defeat the three introductory bosses in the prologue. After clearing Tar Golem, the final boss of this section, your next objective will be to carry the Ova to Marrow Keep.
Once you arrive in this area, look for a Beacon near the hub’s center. From now on, the resting areas will let you level up your character. If you want to level up quickly in this Soulslike, here is a detailed guide to help you out.

Mortal Shell 2: Gloom farming guide to level up fast

As mentioned earlier, you will need Gloom to level up in Mortal Shell 2. You can easily collect this leveling currency if you know where to look. One of the best ways to farm it is to defeat enemies and then return to a Beacon to make them respawn.
In addition to defeating enemies for Gloom, you can also collect it by striking special plants. Once hit, these plants drop Gloom, which you automatically collect.
Defeating enemies and farming Gloom
When you defeat enemies in Mortal Shell 2, including regular foes and special bosses, you will receive Gloom. However, tougher enemies provide more of this leveling currency, making them worthwhile targets when you need to strengthen your character.

You can take this method even further by using Beacons after clearing an area. Once you rest at a Beacon, the enemies in the area respawn, allowing you to clear them again and collect more Gloom. You can repeat this process to create a simple Gloom farming loop.
During the early stages of the game, one useful area to target is near the Sunken Village Beacon. There are nine sheep in the pen, allowing you to collect as much as 900 Gloom each time you clear the area.
Striking Gloom plants
In addition to defeating enemies, you can find special Gloom plants that provide the currency when struck. They are easy to identify because they feature white glowing orbs.
However, there is one important difference between Gloom plants and enemies. While enemies respawn whenever you rest at a Beacon, Gloom plants do not replenish, meaning you cannot repeatedly farm them in the same way.
