Players can ride horses in Hytale, but only as wild mounts since the game doesn’t have a taming feature yet. Animals in this sandbox can be hunted, domesticated, and raised as loyal companions. The title’s RPG-focused mechanics make riding an essential part of progression, and its importance increases as one ventures into more dangerous zones.

In this article, we’ll explain how you can ride horses in Hytale.

How to find a horse in Hytale and ride it

To ride a horse in Hytale, you must first locate the animal. Horses serve as an efficient means of transportation and can be found in the Emerald Grove in Zone 1 and the savannah lands of the Howling Sands in Zone 2. They usually wander in groups but can also be found alone.

Next, you need to craft a Feed Bag. You can use this item to draw horses toward your base. Since the game does not currently have a taming system, this simple bag of feed serves as the primary method for bringing animals closer without chasing them. It makes the task much easier, especially because these creatures often bolt when approached or may even lash out with a kick if you get too close.

Follow these steps to craft a Feed Bag and use it to ride a horse:

  1. Craft a basic Workbench from the Pocket Crafting tab using materials like 3x Stone and 4x Tree Trunk.
  2. Place the crafting station and open the Crafting tab.
  3. Create the Farmers Workbench using 20x Plant Fiber and 6x Tree Trunk.
  4. Place the Workbench in a suitable area.
  5. Craft a Feed bag from the Farming menu (using any vegetable, 5x any fruit, 10x Essence of Life, 10x Wheat).
  6. Deploy the Feed Bag in a quick slot and place it in your preferred area in the base.
  • Now, wait for a horse to approach the Feed Bag. Once it does, move closer to it and press F to mount. You can ride the animal using the default movement keys (W, A, S, and D).

Hypixel Studios has confirmed that a taming mechanic will be added to the game in the future.
