The WM29 pistol is unlocked through a special Weazel Plaza shootout that Rockstar brings back during the Christmas update. The whole setup is a clear nod to Die Hard, and once you’ve seen it spawn properly, you’ll instantly recognize it.
When the event is active, the rooftop of Weazel Plaza turns into an active firefight with police helicopters circling the building and NPCs engaged in combat at the top.
Conditions required for the event to spawn
Before heading to the building, a few conditions must be met. If even one of these isn’t satisfied, the event simply won’t appear.
- The in-game time must be between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM
- The current lobby must have been active for at least 20 real-time minutes
- The event can spawn in public sessions or invite-only sessions
If you’re in an invite-only session, the most important thing to remember is patience. You must remain in that same session for at least 20 minutes before the event even has a chance to trigger.

Best way to trigger the Weazel Plaza shootout
Waiting for an invite-only session doesn’t always guarantee the event will spawn quickly, even if all conditions are met. Here’s what we recommend:
- Wait at least 20-30 minutes in a session
- Check the in-game clock and aim for late night hours, ideally around midnight
- If it doesn’t spawn, switch to a public session
Public sessions are often already active long enough, which increases the odds that the event is already live when you load in. In some cases, other players may already be on the rooftop completing it.
How to get the WM29 pistol in GTA Online Christmas event
Once the shootout is active, unlocking the pistol is simple:
- Head to the top of the Weasel Plaza building
- Eliminate the agent carrying the WM29 pistol
- After he’s taken out, a blue dot appears on the map
- Go to that location and pick up the weapon from his body
The moment you collect it, the WM29 pistol in GTA Online Christmas event is permanently unlocked on your character.
