The Carolina Hurricanes announced Monday that forward Seth Jarvis and defenseman Jaccob Slavin are considered week-to-week, both with upper-body injuries.

Jarvis was hurt Friday when Carolina faced the Florida Panthers. Florida’s Evan Rodrigues took out Jarvis’ skates, causing him to crash full speed into the net. Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said after that game that Jarvis would be “out for a while.”

Jarvis, 23, is in his fifth NHL season, all with the Hurricanes, and had produced 29 points (19 goals, 10 assists) in 34 games.

Slavin, 31, played 26 shifts in that game but did not appear the following night when the Hurricanes lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The veteran, who’s spent all 11 years of his pro career with Carolina, has played just five games this season, having missed two months with a lower-body injury. He had just returned from that injury absence Dec. 14. He does not have a point yet this season.
