Alex Apodaca recently spoke about her massive win over Bella Mir and detailed the exact moment she knew she was going to get her hand raised.
Apodaca and Mir went up against each other in a highly hyped women’s bantamweight bout at Dana White’s Contender Series 89 in Las Vegas earlier today. Mir is notably the daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir and was the biggest betting favorite in Contender Series history.
Given her pedigree and reputation, many expected Mir to put on a show for the fans. However, Apodaca pushed the women’s bantamweight prospect to her limits over three rounds and pulled off an upset win via unanimous decision.
In a post-fight interview, Apodaca opened up about her massive victory and pointed out the moment she knew she was going to win. She said:

“Yeah, at the end of that first round, when I ended up on top. I knew it then… I could also tell that she hadn’t been in the second and third rounds much. That’s where I live. I was fine with it. I think she just needs more experience with harder fights.”
Dana White admits to being biased toward Bella Mir going into DWCS 89
Dana White recently reacted to Bella Mir being defeated by Alex Apodaca at DWCS 89 and admitted he was biased toward the former UFC champion’s daughter.
In an interview, the UFC CEO revealed that he had known Mir for over four years and said:
“I was extremely biased coming into tonight. I’ve been close to her for over four years. Four years ago, she came to me and wanted to sort of map out her future. I’m the one that talked her into going to college, you know, and waiting, you know, getting a wrestling background in college, do some great things there, and then come here and, you know.”
He added:
“Like Bisping said, she didn’t have deep water experience and now she does. She didn’t fold. She didn’t get stopped. She didn’t quit. This is all part of the game.” [H/t: Yahoo! Sports]
