Dana White recently doubled down on his criticism of soccer, while admitting that he was a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo.
For context, White sat down for an interview with the Calgary Sun several years ago. During the interview, the UFC CEO sounded off on soccer and called it a sport that required the least amount of talent to play. He said:
“I can’t stand Soccer. It’s the least talented sport on earth. There’s a reason 3-year-olds can play soccer, okay? You’re running around and kicking a ball. When you’re playing a game where the net is this big, right? And the score is 3-1? Are you sh***ing me right now? Do you know how untalented you have to be to score three points when the net is this big?”
Given the global impact and size of soccer (football), many were taken aback by White’s comments. It appears White’s opinions on the sport haven’t budged over the years. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup coming up this year, White recently reiterated his take on soccer and doubled down on his disdain for the sport.

In an interview on Big Boy TV, White admitted that while he had a great relationship with Ronaldo, he couldn’t stand soccer. Comparing it to ice hockey, he said:
“When the net is the size of that wall [pointing behind him], and the score is 1-1; you talk about hockey right? I’m not a big hockey fan. These dudes skate 100 miles an hour on ice, bent over with a crooked stick. The goal is as big as the guy standing in front of it, and anybody can f**king murder you at any time. I’m not a big soccer fan. Listen, I love Ronaldo, I have a great relationship with him, I love him, no disrespect to any of these guys, but I’m just not a soccer fan.”
When Dana White got honest about “humble guy” Cristiano Ronaldo
Last year, Dana White shared his thoughts on Cristiano Ronaldo and lauded the Portuguese megastar for his humility. Ronaldo is undeniably one of the biggest celebrities in the world and is considered as the sporting ‘GOAT’ by many.
In a post-fight interview after UFC Riyadh (via @jedigoodman on X), White fielded a question about Ronaldo and said:
”I’m not a big soccer guy, As far as superstars, he’s one of the biggest superstars ever. You know what I like about him too? As popular, as successful, and as wealthy as he’s become, he’s a very nice, humble guy. I like him, he’s a very nice guy.”
