I Might Bring it Back

Rey Mysterio could be preparing to take fans on a trip down memory lane. The WWE Hall of Famer has teased bringing back one of the most recognizable elements of his classic WWE presentation: the original entrance theme and the iconic pop-up entrance that accompanied it. Mysterio recently revealed that he has already been thinking about reviving the entrance for another run before eventually hanging up his mask.

Speaking to The Sun, Rey Mysterio discussed the fan reaction to his original theme, which featured the memorable “Who’s That Jumping Out of the Sky?” opening. The song became closely associated with Mysterio during one of the most nostalgic periods of his WWE career and continues to be a fan favorite years after he stopped using it.

Mysterio admitted he still has a lot of affection for the theme and acknowledged that fans have repeatedly asked him about bringing it back.

“I might bring it back, just for a run. With the pop-up entrance too!” Mysterio said.

That possibility is indeed interesting because Mysterio already brought back his old-school pop-up entrance at WrestleMania 42. Now, it appears the legendary luchador could be considering taking the nostalgia even further by restoring the music that accompanied his classic presentation.

For longtime Rey Mysterio fans, the idea carries plenty of nostalgic feels. His original theme is heavily connected to his rise during WWE’s Ruthless Aggression Era, when Mysterio established himself as one of the company’s most popular superstars. The combination of music, colorful masks, and his leap into the arena became an unmistakable part of his identity.

Rey Mysterio remains active despite his age

While the entrance tease has sparked plenty of nostalgia, Rey Mysterio is showing he is still capable of competing at a high level.

The 51-year-old recently competed in a Triple Threat Money in the Bank qualifying match on the September 7 episode of WWE RAW. Mysterio clashed with Bron Breakker and Ethan Page for a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Despite hitting a 619 on Page, Mysterio was ultimately stopped by Breakker, who won after delivering a Spear.

Mysterio has also remained heavily involved with AAA, where he serves as the promotion’s general manager. Most recently, he faced Omos in the main event of TripleMania 34 Night 1 in Las Vegas on September 11. The match ended in a victory for Omos, who earned the right to remain involved in AAA and accompany Dominik Mysterio for his AAA Mega Championship defense.
