WWE is headed to Money in the Bank 2026 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and one female star detailed a horrific injury that forced her to retire a few moves from her arsenal.

In May 2025, Zoey Serrano, formerly known as Zoey Stark, suffered a horrific injury on the weekly product. Stark tore her ACL when she landed awkwardly following a springboard missile dropkick on Kairi Sane in a Triple Threat match. The former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion spent a year away from in-ring competition, and the company released her in 2026 before she could return for a proper run.

Speaking on Rewind Recap Relive, the 32-year-old ex-WWE star opened up about the horrific injury coming out of the match, and the pain was both emotional and physical for her.

“Yeah. It was just pain. It’s hard to explain that feeling because everything else gets blocked out. You’re not thinking about the fans or the match or anything else. I thought, like, maybe I could get up and continue. But the amount of pain that I was in just hit me like there’s just no way. I couldn’t even walk out, you know? I had to be carried out of the arena. I knew immediately, and I was heartbroken. It hurt both physically and emotionally all around,” Serrano said.

Moreover, Serrano said she won’t do any high-flying moves in the ring and wants to use her brute strength as a performer rather than trying these high-risk moves.

“I mean, I’m for sure no longer doing springboards. Yeah. Feet are staying on the ground. I think those days are over for me. You’re just going to see more brutality, more suplexes, and me just throwing people around, especially with my size. I’m bigger than most of the girls in the knockouts division. So, I don’t need the high-flying stuff,” Serrano said.

Zoey Serrano holds no grudge against WWE

After arriving on WWE’s main roster in 2023, Zoey Stark worked with Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus. While her singles career didn’t go far, Stark got the chance to showcase her in-ring skills.

Speaking to Denise Salcedo, the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion said she doesn’t want to burn the bridge with the Stamford-based promotion, as it allowed her to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a WWE Superstar.
