Arman Tsarukyan hit back at Ilia Topuria after ‘El Matador’s’ serious allegation about the gloves that Justin Gaethje used at UFC Freedom 250.
Topuria claimed that Gaethje’s gloves had something inside them, which led to his loss. However, Tsarukyan, while speaking to Carlos Contreras Legaspi, wanted the former champion to stop making excuses:
“Just excuses. How [can] the commission let [him] wear different gloves? They are standing and checking. Just excuses.”
He also wanted ‘El Matador’ to look at his flaws rather than blaming others:

“You got to start with you and what you did wrong not like finding excuses and talking about gloves.”

Topuria lost his lightweight belt to Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250, and also lost his undefeated MMA record. The former champion claimed he will be fit soon, though he didn’t confirm who his next fight would be against.
Tsarukyan has been a critic of Topuria’s for a long time, but the Armenian has a huge fight this weekend at UFC 331, which could have major repercussions on his career.
Arman Tsarukyan could lose title shot at UFC 331
The co-main event of this weekend’s UFC 331 card has some major stakes for Arman Tsarukyan. The Armenian lightweight faces Mauricio Ruffy and believes a loss could end any hopes of a title shot in the future.
Tsarukyan had this to say in a social media post:
“I’m taking Mauricio Ruffy like my title fight… If I’m gonna lose this fight, I’m never gonna see a title fight. So that’s why I’m super motivated, super hungry… He has a good punch. He knocked out a lot of people, but now it’s my time.”
The UFC is yet to finalize who the current champion fights next. Justin Gaethje holds the gold, and his manager, Ali Abdelaziz had mentioned in August that the American would return to action in 2027.
