A top star recently spoke about her character in AEW. The wrestler said that they would never play a babyface in professional wrestling because it is something that does not align with their real-life personality.
The star in the talk is none other than AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla. The Toxic Spider has been working as a top heel in the Jacksonville-based promotion for the past year. She has shown off her villainous side by taking out names like Thunder Rosa and Jamie Hayter. Fans are enjoying her character arc as a heel, but there is still speculation of a babyface turn due to her rising popularity.
Speaking on the Sal Licata Show, Thekla said that she does not want to turn a babyface anytime soon in professional wrestling. She revealed that she likes not following the rules and acting like a good person. She wants to be a lethal force and dominate the division by hook or by crook. Therefore, The Toxic Spider believes that she would not be able to showcase her personality as a babyface.
“I was never going to be a babyface either, so ‘toxic’ is just like—you know—it tells you, ‘Be aware, danger.’ That’s me. I’m just an a**hole, man. I don’t like playing by rules. I don’t like bending down to authority. I’m just a little bit of a p*ick—and I’m having fun with that. And I think people like to watch me have fun being a prick. So there you have it,” said Thekla. “No, honestly, a no-brainer. Like, I love TK. I love working with him, and I love his energy backstage, and all the girls are nice. The locker room is quiet and peaceful, and I love my job. It’s cute, you know?” Thekla said. [H/T: Ringside News]
