Instagram Launches Monthly Performance Recap and Recommendations

Instagram’s testing out a new monthly recap summary to provide regular insight into your content performance.

As you can see in these example screens, posted by app researcher Yasser Masood, some IG creators are now being prompted to check out their previous month’s recap, which then provides a Story-like full-screen set of slides that summarize your performance.

The summary includes data on:

  • Total views of your Reels and posts (including month-on-month comparison %)
  • Views from non-followers
  • Notes on your activity, as well as recommendations on how to maximize your performance
  • Top posts
  • Comparative views data

There are also additional notes on when your audience was most active throughout the month, as well as tips and examples to help improve your content process.

It’s an interesting summary, which could be helpful for those making Instagram a focus. Because while the Insights data is always available within the dedicated section in the app, people don’t always check it, so simply having a monthly reminder could be enough to keep this front of mind, and keep you attuned to what’s happening with your profile.

The added tips and notes could also be beneficial, particularly the active times data, which has long been a key focus for social media marketers.

The problem with generic “best times” reports is that individual results will vary, because your unique audience could be different to what other profiles are seeing. As such, having a monthly reminder of this info, for your specific audience, could be another valuable piece to add in to your considerations to help keep your IG activity on track.

Again, it’s not ground-breaking, as you could already access this data in your insights tab, but it could be a handy prompt, delivered via your notifications, that’ll help to keep you focused on what’s working, and help you grow your IG presence.

We’ve asked Instagram for more info on this new feature and its availability, and we’ll update this post if/when we hear back.
