Yes, Instagram will soon let you edit your profile grid, and re-arrange the order in which your posts are displayed in the app.
It’s not quite ready as yet, but it is getting close, with IG officially announcing the change earlier this month.
Straight from IG chief Adam Mosseri:
“In order to maintain creator control we’re building a tool so you can re-order your entire grid and make it whatever you want.”
So it is coming, and now, elements of the update are starting to appear within the back-end code of the app, with app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi spotting this option in IG’s settings.
As you can see, “Edit grid” is coming, so that you can finally update the presentation of your content in the app.
Instagram’s been talking about adding this option for years, with the first test of the feature originally spotted back in 2022. But IG seemingly shelved it for a while, most likely to focus instead on re-building the grid to include larger thumbnails, which are more aligned with vertical content.
But with that now live in the app, it is looking to make this a focus once again.
So yes, you will soon be able to edit and re-arrange your content thumbnails on your IG profile to make them into whatever presentation style you see fit.
That’ll also enable people who’d created displays based on the old format to re-align their updates accordingly, while it’ll also provide new opportunities to entice profile visitors to check out more of your content.
There’s a range of ways in which this could be used, adding another aspect to your overall IG management.
Or you might just leave it, but either way, having the option is valuable, and will be significant for many.
As noted, Instagram officially announced the coming update a couple of weeks back, and with the option now appearing in testing, it does look set to be coming, very soon.
