WWE has gone through a number of changes since TKO took over and it seems that there are many stars who have opted to walk away.
It came as a shock back in March when Road Dogg was reported to have quit, something that led to a lot of online speculation. Finally, the Hall of Famer has revealed the real reason for his exit while part of a virtual signing.
Thanks for the submission!
“It was moving too fast… It was just moving too fast for me. We talked about my brothers and their grandkids and I didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time with mine so, I’m gonna do more of that now.” he revealed.
Road Dogg went on to note that the changes to the business were a major factor.
“As an old timer, I think we always feel that way (that it’s exposing the business too much)… The idea behind it, in my opinion, is it’s an on-ramp or an exit ramp into the actual episodic television show, and I don’t know if there’s a metric that can tell you whether that works or not.” via (Fightful)
Road Dogg was well respected inside and outside of the ring and his exit came as a huge shock for fans and fellow stars.
The WWE Legend even opened up on potentially working for AEW
Road Dogg was part of a double signing with Billy Gunn, who has left WWE to work for AEW.
As part of the signing, he was asked about potentially working for AEW after his recent exit, which was something that he shut down. As above, it seems that Brian James just wants to spend some time with his family and make up for the time that he has missed while working a demanding schedule over the past few years.
Several released stars have claimed the same in the past, including Braun Strowman, who recently noted that he was taking a break from the ring to make it up to his family after missing a range of family events over the past decade that he had spent on the road with WWE.
