Former Liverpool player and manager Sir Kenny Dalglish has shared his thoughts on the situation of defender Andy Robertson at the club. The veteran left-back has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield after losing his starting berth at the club under Arne Slot.
Dalglish, a Reds legend, has advised that the club should do its best to keep Robertson from leaving this month and allow his contract run its course. In an appearance on the Warm Up podcast, the Scotsman revealed that he hopes Robertson does not leave this month because he has been brilliant for the club.
Thanks for the submission!
“I hope he stays where he is, because he’s been brilliant for Liverpool. He’s a decent fella — he’s done a great job. I don’t know if he’s going to move on from Liverpool. It may be best to just let it run its course. When his contract is up, it’s up. And if he has to go somewhere else, it will be sad. I hope the supporters get the opportunity, if he is going to go, to say cheerio to him”, he said (via Liverpool World).
Andy Robertson was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham, with the Reds prepared to accept a £5 million for the 31-year-old, whose contract expires in the summer. Their injury crisis at the back, coupled with public pleas from captain Virgil van Dijk and coach Arne Slot, has led to a rethink as the club appear set to keep him.
Robertson will likely leave the club once his contract expires at the end of the season after losing his place in the XI to Milos Kerkez. The experienced left-back has been at the club since 2017, when he signed for £8 million from Hull City.
Liverpool star the subject of talks over January exit: Reports
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is the subject of interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan this month, as per reports. The Englishman is wanted by the Nerazzurri in the January window as they look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the campaign.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Inter Milan have initiated conversations with the reigning Premier League champions over a transfer for the 25-year-old midfielder this month. They want him to join them on loan with an option to be signed permanently at the end of the loan spell.
Curtis Jones is weighing up his future at Anfield after failing to nail down a regular starting shirt under Arne Slot. The midfielder was also targeted by Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the window before they completed the signing of Conor Gallagher from Chelsea.
