Hot on the heels of getting the sack from Liverpool, Arne Slot has reportedly commenced talks with Serie A giants AC Milan to become their new manager. The Rossoneri let go their previous boss Massimiliano Allegri earlier this week.
Dutchman Slot had a superb start to life at Anfield after taking over from Jurgen Klopp at the start of last season, delivering the Premier League title and finishing runner-up in the EFL Cup.
Thanks for the submission!
However, things unravelled in his sophomore campaign, as the Reds’ title defence collapsed after a bright start, with Slot’s side eventually finishing a disappointing fifth to claim the Premier League’s fifth UEFA Champions League spot.
Days after a trophyless season, the Reds announced parting ways with the Dutchman – on Saturday (May 30). However, just hours later, as reported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri (via Sport Bible), Slot is said to have opened talks with the Rossoneri to take over as their next head coach.
Allegri’s Milan were on course for qualifying for next season’s Champions League. But a spectcular implosion – seven defeats in their final 13 games – including a final-day 2-1 home loss to Cagliari saw Como pip them to a spot in European club football’s blue riband competition next campaign.
Liverpool owners issue statement after Arne Slot sack

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group acknowledged the contribution of head coach Arne Slot as they announced the severing of their partnership this week after two seasons of association.
Slot recorded a win rate of 55.2% in the Premier League across two campaigns – the joint second-best by a Reds boss (also Rafael Benitez) in the English top flight – after Jurgen Klopp.
“That this was a difficult decision for us to make as a club goes without saying. The contribution Arne has made to Liverpool FC in the time that he has been with us has been significant, meaningful and – most importantly of all to supporters and ourselves – successful,” LSG said.
“As such, our appreciation for everything he has achieved could not be greater, particularly as it was underpinned by a work ethic, a diligence and a level of expertise which further underlined our view that he’s a leader in his field. From the moment that we first encountered Arne, it was immediately clear that he is an individual who does not merely accept responsibility, he embraces it.”
The Reds recorded their lowest Premier League tally – 60 points – in 10 years as they finished 25 points behind winners Arsenal, who celebrated their first league triumph in 22 years.
