Lana feedback on her future in WWE; picks managing over wrestling

Lana, better known as CJ Perry and who has a WWE Legends deal, has opened up about a potential on-screen return to the company. She revealed that she would love to step back if the right creative opportunity presented itself, specifically in a managing role.

Lana reflected on her skillset and future in WWE during Nick Club Wrestling Happy Hour’s interview. She emphasized that her true strengths lie primarily as a manager, character, and mic worker outside of in-ring competition. Rather than competing in an already stacked women’s division, she sees herself in managerial roles.

“I mean, I would love to do something back in wrestling. I’d love to do something back in WWE if the story calls for it and it’s the right fit. I believe that my strong suit and where I can help move the needle in storytelling and on the business side, I think, is definitely as a manager and as a character, and you know, I don’t think they need any new women fighting for championships out there,” Lana said.

She then drew a parallel to legendary advocate Paul Heyman, noting that age does not hinder a managerial career, declaring herself to be a strong storyteller capable of moving the needle on the business side. Nonetheless, she is eager to return to WWE TV if it’s ever on the cards.

Lana pitched being Ric Flair’s wife in WWE

In the aforementioned interview, Lana shared that she frequently pitched story ideas directly to Vince McMahon. A prime example occurred after her storyline with Bobby Lashley, when Lana lightheartedly pitched playing Ric Flair’s love interest and becoming his sixth wife.

“I mean, I would say a lot of stories. But, you know, you’ve got to believe in yourself. You better believe what you’re pitching is going to make you a massive success, or why are you pitching it? … I’m trying to think. There was one. So I did pitch me being, like, me and Ric Flair maybe being, like, a romantic interest after Bobby Lashley. And, like, ‘Oh, it makes sense. I can be your sixth wife,’ right? And we would joke about it being Ric,” Lana said.

They eventually paired Flair with Lacey Evans instead. Perry noted that Evans was the superior fit for the angle, citing that her height made her a credible in-ring rival against Charlotte Flair.
