Texas wideout Ryan Wingo suffered a hand injury during the team’s Week 10 game against the No. 9 Vanderbilt Commodores (7-1) in Week 10 on Saturday. Video replays showed that Wingo seemingly broke the thumb in the first quarter, which forced the player to exit the game.
Wingo’s injury occurred when he helped the No. 22 Texas Longhorns (6-2) take an early 7-0 lead off a 75-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Arch Manning. After hitting the ground, the Texas wideout stood up and made his way to the medical tent on the sideline.
It was later reported that Wingo went to the locker room after his injury.

Wingo had 89 yards with a touchdown on two receptions before exiting the game.
According to Neil Meyer, Wingo’s thumb appeared to be displaced — potentially indicating a break, fracture, or dislocation.
At the time of writing, Texas was leading 31-10 with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Ryan Wingo has been one of the most critical offensive players for Texas this season. Before the game against Vandy, the wideout posted 504 yards and four touchdowns on 29 receptions.
Since the Longhorns are dominating the game over Vanderbilt, they might not require Wingo’s offensive prowess on the field.
However, Texas will wish that Wingo’s injury isn’t serious, since the team is still in the race to qualify for the College Football Playoff.
