Lech Poznan welcome Thun to Poznan Stadium in Poland for the first leg of the UEFA Europa League playoff round on Thursday. The winners of the UEFA Europa League playoff round advance directly into the main league phase of the competition, while the losing side will drop into the league phase of the UEFA Conference League.
Lech Poznan began their European qualifying journey this season in the UEFA Champions League, but they were eliminated from that path by Danish club AGF in the second round.
Thanks for the submission!
The Polish side were unfortunate to draw 5-5 on aggregate and then lose 4-3 in the penalty shootout, relegating them to the third round of the Europa League qualifiers.

Following the disappointment of their Champions League elimination, coach Niels Frederiksen will be fully focused on making it to the league phase of the second-tier Europa League, which remains a lucrative option for the Polish side.
Meanwhile, Swiss club Thun surprised many by winning the Swiss Super League title last season, finishing ahead of the more established clubs including Lugano, Basel, and Young Boys.
That earned Oberländer a place in the Champions League qualifiers, but they fell 4-3 on aggregate to Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb in the second round, and were transferred to the third round of the Europa League qualifiers.
Vikingur Reykjavik of Iceland stood in Thun’s path, and the Swiss club did well to defeat their opponents 5-3 on aggregate to advance to the playoffs.
Gian Luca Privitelli’s side are not often seen qualifying for European club competitions, but they do have a brief history in Europe.
They reached the UEFA Champions League group stage in 2005-06, where they finished third in Group B behind Arsenal and Ajax, and ahead of Sparta Prague. Thun also qualified for the Europa League group stage in 2013-14, finishing bottom of their group.
The second leg of this Europa League qualifying tie will take place at Stockhorn Arena in Thun, Switzerland, on Thursday, 27 August.

Lech Poznan vs Thun prediction
Lech Poznan are typically defensively sound at home, while they are expected to control the tempo through their midfield and attack using smart wide transitions.
Thun have impressive firepower, but their defense is not always as strong as it could be. The Swiss side will likely sit in a compact block, while growing in confidence and counterattacking more often as the game goes on, especially if their defense holds up.
