Seven time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton shared his brother Nicolas’ reel on his Instagram story. The Ferrari star shared the same on June 13, 2025 with a special message for his brother, and asked his fans to show support to Nicolas.
The Ferrari driver’s paternal half-brother, Nicolas is also a motorsport driver and races in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). Just like Lewis, Nicolas also dreamed of becoming a motorsport driver. However, Lewis’ brother was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, a neurological disorder that restricts the movements of muscles.
Nicolas Hamilton currently drives for Powder Monkey Brewing Co with Esidock in the BTCC. Lewis Hamilton’s brother recently participated in the three races at the Thruxton Circuit. He uploaded a reel of himself walking around the paddock from the race weekend on his Instagram.
Nicolas, in the caption of his reel, detailed his recent struggles with movement but was proud to be able to race despite the troubles. His caption read:
“Walking always feels less severe in terms of movement to me on the inside, as it looks on the outside. I have not been walking great recently, due to tightness & potential aging, which this video showcases.”
“But I’m just grateful to be able to walk in the first place. It has been one hell of a journey to get here. I might be walking poorly in my eyes, but I’m still walking to my #BTCC race car! Be proud of your #disability, whether you’re able to walk or not. Whatever limitations of movement you have, move with pride. #inspire #cerebralpalsy”
Lewis Hamilton shared the same reel on his Instagram story, asking his followers to show support for his brother. The caption of his story read:
“My brother is back racing! Go give him some love”

Lewis’ brother drives in the BTCC in a specially modified car. The modifications include a hand clutch and repositioned accelerator and brake pedals.
Lewis Hamilton’s brother Nicolas’ post about returning to the BTCC for 2025
Nicolas Hamilton withdrew from the 2023 BTCC midway through the season and only returned for the start of the 2025 season. Lewis’ brother shared a post about his return to racing on Instagram in March. The caption read:
“BACK IN THE BTCC FOR 2025 After having to walk away from the championship following my historical P6 result back in 2023. I went into a very difficult place mentally, where any thoughts of racing & getting back on the grid again looked unachievable.”
“But after a late opportunity from @ulmofficial in December 2024, I picked myself up & worked hard in therapy to get myself back to a healthier place mentally & set my sights on raising the sponsorship to get back on the grid. After 20 months away, I am so proud to say that I am BACK!”
Lewis Hamilton’s brother finished his career best P6 at the second race in Donington Park back in 2023. Four races weekends and 12 races into the 2025, the P17 result at the Thruxton Circuit has been Hamilton’s best result so far this season.
