Have you considered the potential of live video events on LinkedIn?
It could be worth a thought. Overall video watch time on LinkedIn increased by 36% in 2024, while live video events in the app increased by 15.3% in Q4 alone.
The trends point to this being a format that could help to boost your reach and engagement. And this week, LinkedIn has provided a new overview of how to run your LinkedIn live video events via Zoom, linking your Zoom video direct through to the LinkedIn app.
As detailed in this video, you can feed your Zoom live video through to your LinkedIn live event by entering the relevant stream key from your Zoom info.
You’ll be able to enter the stream details up to an hour before your scheduled event, but LinkedIn recommends creating your stream URL and stream key no sooner than 10 minutes before you go live.
LinkedIn also advises that you should mute your LinkedIn stream screen, in order to use the microphone and speaker from Zoom.
You’ll then be able to share your LinkedIn live event on your company page, with the replay made available on your LinkedIn event page shortly after ending the stream.
To be clear, the functionality to stream via Zoom in itself is not new, as LinkedIn has enabled this connection for some time, but it’s now provided more info on best practices and processes to facilitate your Zoom/LinkedIn event.
It’s a handy overview of the process, which could make it easier for you to set up your own LinkedIn live project. Or maybe you run an internal meeting that could be suited to a LinkedIn event for a wider audience. There’s a range of ways in which this could be used, and with more businesses set up to facilitate Zoom meetings, the capacity to feed that through to LinkedIn is worth consideration.
In order to create a LinkedIn event, members and pages need to have 150 followers/connections, and a history of abiding by LinkedIn’s policies. Your account or company page must also be more than 30 days old to qualify.
If you meet all of these provisos, and you have a set-up suited to streaming, it could be another element to keep in mind.
