LinkedIn Provides More Analytics Data to Third Party Platforms

LinkedIn has launched a new set of Member Post Analytics APIs, which will enable third party social media management platforms to integrate more LinkedIn post performance data, in order to make it easier to manage your LinkedIn strategy.

So now, you’ll be able to access more information on your LinkedIn content, including video performance, and compare that to other platforms all in-stream.

As explained by LinkedIn:

As of today, we’re launching a number of new Member Analytics APIs. They will allow you to track your LinkedIn profile and post analytics within the dashboards of your favorite third-party social media management tools. Things like follower insights, post performance numbers, and video analytics.”

Video analytics is the big one, with video content on the rise in the app. Overall video watch time on LinkedIn rose 36% year-over-year in 2024, while videos are 20x more likely to be shared in the app. Video content also generates 1.4x more engagement than other post types

Having more video performance data available will make it easier to manage your content streams, and ensure that you’re maximizing your creation efforts.

To be clear, LinkedIn Company Pages have had access to expanded data insights via its Marketing APIs for some time, but now, individual user accounts will also be able to access more in-depth performance data in external apps.

So it’s focused on individual creators, and improving your personal performance, as opposed to company strategies.

LinkedIn also added additional metrics for users back in May, including profile viewers from a post, followers gained from a post, and Premium custom button clicks.

In combination, these new insights will provide more ways for users to build their LinkedIn strategy, and align with key engagement trends and shifts to maximize their presence.

LinkedIn says that the new data points will be accessible in all of the major social media management platforms, including  Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprinklr, Metricool, Oktopost, Zoho, mLabs, SocialPilot, Later, Publer, and Vista Social.
