The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will meet in the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons when Super Bowl LIX kicks off in New Orleans on Sunday evening (6:30 p.m. ET on FOX).
It will mark the Chiefs’ third straight appearance in the Super Bowl, fifth in the last six seasons and seventh overall, which only trails the New England Patriots (11), Dallas Cowboys (8), Denver Broncos (8) and San Francisco 49ers (8) for the most all time.
That includes victories over the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV, 49ers in Super Bowl LIV and LVIII and the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, as well as losses to the Green Bay Packers in the first AFL-NFL World Championship Game, (retroactively known as Super Bowl I) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are playing for the Lombardi Trophy for the fifth time, including their third appearance in the Big Game in the last eight seasons, the most of any NFC team in that time span.
They are just 1-3 in their previous appearances, including a victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII and losses to the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XV, Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX and Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, joining the Cowboys, 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins as teams with three Super Bowl losses apiece.
This year’s matchup will be a visual rematch of their previous meeting, with the Eagles in the midnight green helmets and jerseys with white pants and the Chiefs wearing their standard red helmets, white jerseys and red pants.
Philadelphia has worn its home uniforms in each of its four previous appearances, while Kansas City is 1-1 in the Super Bowl when wearing white jerseys. With that said, let’s take a look at both teams’ Super Bowl uniform history.
