Los Angeles Chargers Debuting Navy Blue “Super Chargers” Alternate Uniforms On Thursday Night Football – SportsLogos.Net News

Just days after they debuted their gold “Charger Power” alternate uniforms, the Los Angeles Chargers will break out their new navy blue “Super Chargers” design for Thursday night’s matchup with the Minnesota Vikings (8:15 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime).

The uniforms aren’t an exact replica of what the Chargers wore at home from 1988-2006, though they feature the same style of lightning bolt on the helmets, shoulders and down the sides of the pants, as they’re white with a navy blue and gold stroke/outline.

However, key differences include the white number on the helmets, which (like the jerseys) is rendered in Los Angeles’ current font, and the fact that the Chargers wore navy blue jerseys and pants just once – a 26-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football in 2003.

The gold “Charger Power” and navy blue “Super Chargers” alternate uniforms, which were unveiled this summer, replaced Los Angeles’ royal blue and navy blue “Color Rush” uniforms, though the royal blue design was actually phased out ahead of last season.

This marks one of two appearances for the navy blue uniforms this season, as they’ll also be worn against the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 30. The gold jerseys were worn in last weekend’s 38-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, while the Chargers also introduced new powder blue pants, which have already been worn twice this year.

In addition to the alternate uniforms, the Chargers have painted a vintage design in the end zones at SoFi Stadium that mimics their time in San Diego. They also used this design upon move to Los Angeles in 2017 until it was replaced by their current branding in 2020

Minnesota, meanwhile, will counter with its standard purple helmets and white road jerseys and pants. It’ll create a visually similar matchup to their 2003 meeting, though the Vikings wore purple socks instead of white and the Chargers wore white pants in their 42-28 victory.
